Wednesday 26th March 2008 from 5:30pm - 6:30pm
FOR ANIMAL RIGHTS, HUMAN RIGHTS AND ENVIRONMENTALIST CAUSES:
A CANDLELIGHT DEMONSTRATION OF PEACE
Human rights = animal rights. It is time to stand up and say no to an act of war on Tibet.
Please show your solidarity for the people of Tibet and join us on Wednesday 26th at 17h30 at the
fountain at the bottom of Adderley Street Cape Town, for a peaceful demonstration.
Wear something orange. Bring a candle (preferably in a hurricane lamp of sorts,
we have the SE to contend with) And a poster. If you don't have one, don't matter, your presence there will say enough.
Millions have died, hundreds of temples destroyed and who knows how many Tibetans are missing.
We, as a nation who has recently emerged from oppression and discrimination, must as individuals, businesses, organizations and government, make known in no uncertain terms that the current situation is unacceptable and one that we will not condone under any circumstances.
'All that is required for evil to flourish is for good (wo)men to do nothing.'
From the legal standpoint, Tibet to this day has not lost its statehood.
It is an independent state under illegal occupation.
Neither China's military invasion nor the continuing occupation by PLA has transferred the sovereignty of Tibet
to China. How can China - one of the most ardent opponents of imperialism and colonialism - excuse its continued
presence in Tibet, against the wishes of Tibetan people, by citing as justification Mongols and Manchu imperialism
and its own colonial policies?
Wednesday 26th March 2008 from 5:30pm - 6:30pm
Bottom of Adderley Street, Cape Town @ the Fountain.
Wear an orange top. Bring a candle (make your own hurricane lamp so it doesn't blow out),
bring a poster and good thoughts.
PLEASE RSVP and bring a pal too.
