Animals Rock Concert

For one whole weekend, Friday 16th November through Saturday to Saturday night 17th November, Durbanville's Corner Bar rocked for animals.

With Beauty without Cruelty hosting the event and the proceeds going to Beauty without Cruelty, M.E.R.C.Y, Caspian Alexander Trust and Capetonians against Animal Abuse, once again the rock fraternity and their fans showed that their hearts are firmly in the right place.

With such outstanding acts as 12th Avenue, Mind Assault, Reburn, Original Sin, Zenith, Failing Forward, These 3 Words, ADHD, Situs The Big Black Eagles, Failing Forward, The Fractured, Cannon Experiment, Feedback, Moments of Clarity, Pudrema and Six of Nine making up the lineup, how could we fail?

Supporting us were the following people and we must thank them from the bottom of our hearts for contributing to an outstanding concert and one that will not be forgotten in a hurry.

Of course, we could never do it without the Corner Bar and the magnificent staff; they are the best.

Mind Assault, Feedback, Original Sin, Reburn, 12th Avenue, Zenith also played all of the songs showcased on the Capetonians against Animal Abuse CD to great acclaim with Mind Assault's "Innocent Blood" DVD being a highlight of the evening.

On Saturday night, most of the bands allowed us to play the DVD "Behind the Mask" in the background and on screen, a DVD showcasing some of the animal liberationists and what they find in laboratories and battery farms and the response from the crowd just added to the incredible vibe.

Having Keith Mann, one of the leading UK animal rights liberationists as MC, with his passion for the cause, inspired many people to ask questions, offer further fundraising help and a lot of people were certainly educated by the videos. There were so many people who could just not believe what happens as well as what people like Keith and his fellow activists do, so lots of discussions were held around that too.

But even though it was all about raising funds for the animals, the bands outdid themselves giving us a rock feast not to be matched any time soon. I know, with this caliber of music that the Animals Rock Concert cannot but eventually grow into one of the biggest annual concerts on the music scene.

Beauty without Cruelty cannot thank you all enough for being a part of the Animals Rock Concert. R10 080.00 was collected which we will use to carry on spreading the message and of course, to spay and neuter feral and strays around the Peninsula by donating money to M.E.R.C.Y, Caspian Alexander Trust and Capetonians against Animal Abuse.

I know Beryl, chairperson of BWC and all the other organizations who benefit from your time and effort will join me in this thank you.

Anything up to 500 spays could possibly be done with the money and if you extrapolate that over the next five years of unspayed cats and dogs, you have literally saved the various organizations from potentially putting down up to ONE MILLION CATS AND DOGS.
